Diana is an Arizona
Fine Artist who discovered gourd art after reading an article in a
local publication. She is self-taught from reading several
books and articles about this creative medium.
Her gourd art employs many different gourds during the creative
process which evolve into her total vision upon completion.
She is strongly influenced by the Southwestern culture.
Diana's favorite snake shaped gourds led her to create her signature
"Spirit People" series. Other popular creations of hers
include angels, bowls, miniatures, storytellers and masks.
Woodburning techniques along with acrylic paint, ink, gold leaf,
metallic powders, leather, fur and other findings define her works.
Several coats of clear acrylic are applied before decorating.
Many pieces are embellished with silver, pewter and copper metals
along with leather, fur and various hues of turquoise cabochons,
gemstones & beads. The exotic feathers are naturally molted
from Macaw & Parrots. Other feather that may be used are
Turkey, Pheasant, Peacock & Chicken.
Diana's Fine Art Gourd creations have received several awards and
her astounding art is collected nationwide. |
