Kasyn Purcell
BIOGRAPHY

For years, Kasyn would roll mud into balls.
His mother, Florence Bunker, would often discover large and small
mud balls of all sizes around the house. Someone suggested
that he make beads instead, and the idea evolved into a jewelry
business. He has made them as gifts for his family and
friends. Kasyn does all of the rolling and some of the
stringing of the beads, which are made out of Sculpey Clay.
This type of clay is used because it does not harden until cooked,
thus giving Kasyn ample time to roll the beads.
Kasyn Purcell enjoys rolling beads in
a variety of colors that become one-of-a-kind jewelry necklaces and
bracelets.
The clay is cut into pea
size pieces and then individually rolled into a ball shape.
After the beads are rolled, a nail is used to make a hole in the
middle of each bead. The beads are then put on a rod and baked
in the oven to harden them. After baking, beads are then
strung on nylon string on a stand where they are coated twice with
varnish. After drying, the beads are ready strung for jewelry.
Mixing the colors makes marbled beads where Kasyn rolls them into a
big ball that is cut into bead size pieces and rolled into balls.
